In 2009 St. Mary's was awarded the DCSF International Schools Award in recognition of the highly innovative international and community schemes the school has pioneered. The award recognises schools who are leading the way in installing a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people. |

| Investors in People (IIP) | |
In 2002 St. Mary’s gained The Investor in People National Standard Status. As an IIP organisation, St. Mary’s develops effective strategies to improve the performance of the organisation through the training and development of all staff. The standard was achieved again in 2005 and 2008. Following the most recent review the assessor stated that there is an “impressive commitment to the achievement of excellence at the school”. |

| Healthy Schools | |
| The National Healthy School Programme supports the link between health, behaviour and achievement, based on a whole school approach. The National Standard was achieved in April 2008 through the excellent work of school council, parents focus and through both curricular and extra curricular opportunities. | ![]() |
| School Achievement Award | |
| This award was achieved in 2003. This national award was originally developed to celebrate the achievements of schools that have either made significant improvements or are high performing. | |
| Specialist School Status | |
The Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) is a leading body in secondary education. It aims to give young people access to good secondary education by building networks, sharing good practice and supporting schools. |

| Artsmark Silver | |
| St. Mary’s achieved this award in 2004. The award managed by the Arts Council England recognises schools with a high level of provision in the Arts. By gaining Artsmark the school shows its commitment to the wider development of teachers and young people to raise the profile of the arts in the school and wider community. It is hoped to gain Artsmark Gold in the near future. | ![]() |
